March of Dimes 2015

By Announcements, Community Service, Human Resources

As many of you are aware one of our biggest fundraising events is for the March of Dimes. In 2013 we received the silver award for our efforts and last year we received the gold award and we were one of the top Long Island companies to raise over $17,000.00. SterlingRisk has committed to matching all donations.

You will find our team captains and many of our departments coming together for this worthy cause with various fundraising events throughout the month. I encourage you all to support this cause. Any donation is appreciated to show your support for your colleagues who spend time and sometimes their own money to create the ideas and events for this effort. I am so proud of the commitment that we have shown to raising the bar each year and exceeding our target goal. We have shown all the values of Integrity, Collaboration, Care & Respect, Excellence and Innovation in all of our efforts.

Please show your support in any way you can.

Thank you,
Donna

Breast Cancer Walk-A-Thon

By Community Service

Hi Sterling Colleagues,

This Sunday is the Breast Cancer Awareness Walk a Thon at Jones Beach on Sunday, 10/19.

I will be walking for me, you, our daughters, Mothers, sisters, friends, and everyone that has been touched by this awful disease.

The donations go to a Fight for a Cure, cancer patients in need of services, like a ride to and from treatment, a wig (which can be pricey), and counseling to help from hearing the words “You have Breast Cancer” to living beyond cancer.

This is such an important cause and close to my heart as many of you are aware I am a Breast Cancer Survivor.

If you would like to donate to this cause, please click on the link below. No donation is too small.

Habitat for Humanity

By Community Service, Red Team, Values

The Red Team is helping families break the cycle of poverty and build long-term financial security through Habitat for Humanity. With an affordable, stable home, families have more to spend on food, medicine, child care, education and other essentials. The support of the entire SterlingRisk organization helps the organization do more in all the many ways that Habitat builds.

Children’s Tumor Foundation

I just wanted to take a moment to thank all those who have been so generous since Marc’s initial email. Several people had asked me to forward the link again for donations so here it is.

Just click “Give Now” in the upper right.

I am greatly appreciative of all the words of encouragement. I have also of learned the stories of several people who have also experienced losses and have committed to keep your loved ones in my thoughts on my journey on November 1. Several, through photos or notes, will accompany me throughout the event and, hopefully, over the finish line.

On behalf of Dakota and her family – whom have asked me to also express their sincerest thanks and gratitude to everyone – and certainly my family – we humbly thank you.

Walk to End Alzheimer’s

By Community Service

Good Morning,

I’m walking to help reclaim the future for millions. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, I’m committed to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s research, care and support.

I personally have lost my Grandmother, Mother-In-Law and (2) Aunt’s and an Uncle to this disease.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer’s and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.

I need your support to do my part! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer’s Association advance research into methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer’s. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide.
Thank you for joining the movement! The end of Alzheimer’s disease starts with you.

Epilepsy Foundation of CT

By Community Service

A friend of my wife & I, Ryan Tlasky, passed away 4 years ago after battling severe Epilepsy. He was 20 years old.

He was an avid bowler and my wife, who is also an avid bowler, started a fundraiser w/other friends called “Strike Out Epilepsy” where the proceeds go to the Epilepsy Foundation of CT. It is held annually around the end of July at a bowling center in New Milford, CT (Lore’s Lanes) which is a client of mine (Marcel Lessard Enterprises Inc.). They donate the entire center that day for the event.

People come to bowl, have fun in remembrance of Ryan and buy raffle tickets to win prizes that organizations & individuals donate (TV’s, Yankee Tickets, Gift Cards, etc). This year, over $7,300 was raised.

SterlingRisk was generous enough to donate SterlingRisk branded merchandise to put in the door bags for the participants for the past couple of years. We all greatly appreciate it.

Regards,

Thomas Brown
