Little White Church Fire

By Community Service, Human Resources, News

SterlingRisk,

I am sure you heard about the church fire that happened Christmas Day, well that is my church. A little white church that Levitt donated land for the church to be built on 70 years ago and has served the community through their pumpkin patch and Christmas tree lot for many years, among many other things. It is devastating to see the destruction.

I know we have a very giving company and the little white church on Hempstead Turnpike could use some help to rebuild. Below is the link to donate. When on the page, you can also view the church website for more details on the church and the fire.

Below is what our Pastor said after surveying the damage.

— Linda Brady

The damage really is very extensive; worse than I initially thought. Burnt rafters, all chairs destroyed, smoke and water into everything including the Social Hall and pre-school area. Salvage is limited and we are awaiting the insurance adjuster.

On a brighter note, the Alter was saved as was the nativity scene. The firemen did some heroics for us. However, musical equipment, camera and computer for recording worship and going LIVE seems to be a total loss. The roof is terribly burnt, walls and other ceilings significantly damaged.

We are so saddened that this Holy place with such memories for so many is ruined.

— Blessings, Pastor Remo.

Summer Flextime Program

By Announcements, Human Resources

It’s almost summertime and the Summer Flextime Program at SterlingRisk is back!!! The Summer Flextime Program is a work schedule that allows employees to leave at 1pm (on six Fridays during the designated twelve-week program) every other Friday for six designated weeks. The week of July 4th is not an eligible flex work week as we are closed Friday, July 3rd.

From Monday thru Thursday of their Flex-Friday week, each employee that chooses to participate, will add ½ hour to their work day and take a daily abbreviated ½ hour lunch. “Banking” this time from Monday thru Thursday will allow that employee to leave at 1:00pm on Friday.

A typical summer flextime arrangement may be:
· Monday through Thursday 8:30 – 5:00 with a half hour abbreviated lunch each of the four days worked;
· Or Monday through Thursday 9:00 – 5:30 with a half hour abbreviated lunch each of the four days worked.
· On the Friday during the week in which the summer flextime is worked, you will work from 9:00 – 1:00, and may leave at 1:00 pm (“summer half day”).

This schedule must be approved by your Manager. This will be a team approach, so team members that have been identified to be backups for each other, may not both select the same week to exercise their flextime. In other words, team members must cover for each other, so that our clients continued to be serviced.

Managers will be coordinating this schedule with their team in a way that results in six summer half days for each team member during the twelve week period of June 5h through August 28th. Again, this allows each team member the opportunity for six summer half days.

Do’s
· Communicate your interest to your Manager in participating in this pilot program.
· If you are participating in the program, make sure your backup is indicated on your out of office (both internally and externally) and voice mail on your summer half day.
· Commit to the set six summer full Fridays.
· Have fun and utilize this time to enjoy the summer!

Don’ts
You cannot take a summer half day on a week you have PTO planned.
If you use an unplanned PTO the week of your scheduled summer half day, you will need to reschedule your summer half day.
You cannot combine a ½ day PTO and summer half day together for a full day off.
Don’t worry, if there is a client need and you are unable to take your scheduled summer half day, your Manager will work with you and a new summer half day will be assigned.

Keep showing your Values colors!

March of Dimes 2015

By Announcements, Community Service, Human Resources

As many of you are aware one of our biggest fundraising events is for the March of Dimes. In 2013 we received the silver award for our efforts and last year we received the gold award and we were one of the top Long Island companies to raise over $17,000.00. SterlingRisk has committed to matching all donations.

You will find our team captains and many of our departments coming together for this worthy cause with various fundraising events throughout the month. I encourage you all to support this cause. Any donation is appreciated to show your support for your colleagues who spend time and sometimes their own money to create the ideas and events for this effort. I am so proud of the commitment that we have shown to raising the bar each year and exceeding our target goal. We have shown all the values of Integrity, Collaboration, Care & Respect, Excellence and Innovation in all of our efforts.

Please show your support in any way you can.

Thank you,
Donna
